Rhodes Scholarship for East Africa 2027

The Rhodes Scholarship for East Africa is open for 2027 entry to the University of Oxford and specifically covers citizens of Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, South Sudan and Burundi. It is a fully funded postgraduate award for outstanding young people with strong academic achievement, character, service and leadership potential.

Benefits: University of Oxford course fees and an annual living stipend, plus the Oxford application fee, student visa and International Health Surcharge costs, two economy-class flights to and from the United Kingdom, and a settling-in allowance. Funding normally covers two or more years depending on the approved course combination.

Schwarzman Scholars Class of 2027–2028

Schwarzman Scholars is accepting U.S. and global applications for its 2027–2028 cohort, a fully funded one-year master’s programme at Tsinghua University in Beijing focused on leadership, global affairs and cross-cultural understanding.

Benefits: Tuition and fees, room and board, travel to and from Beijing, an in-country study tour, required course books and supplies, a Lenovo laptop, health insurance and a personal stipend.

Knight-Hennessy Scholars 2027 at Stanford University

Applications are open for the 2027 Knight-Hennessy Scholars cohort at Stanford University. The global graduate scholarship supports scholars across Stanford’s graduate schools and combines substantial financial support with multidisciplinary leadership development.

Benefits: A fellowship covering tuition and associated fees, a stipend for living and academic expenses, and an annual travel stipend for an economy-class trip to and from Stanford. Newly enrolling scholars also receive a one-time relocation stipend; additional academic-enrichment support may be available in later years.

Talent Beyond Boundaries International Jobs & Labour Mobility for Refugees

Talent Beyond Boundaries connects skilled refugees, stateless people and other eligible displaced people with international employers and labour-mobility pathways. Candidates in Uganda are among those TBB primarily supports, and current opportunities span fields such as healthcare, technology, skilled trades, finance and hospitality.

Benefits: Access to a Talent Catalog used to match skilled displaced candidates with employers, current international job opportunities, candidate resources, and where a match succeeds, support navigating labour-mobility, visa and travel processes. Registration does not guarantee a job offer.

Uganda National Special Grant for Persons with Disabilities

The Government of Uganda's National Special Grant for Persons with Disabilities provides livelihood and income-generation funding to eligible groups of persons with disabilities across Uganda. PWDs generally access the grant in groups of 5 to 15 members through local-government structures. Approved PWD group projects may receive up to UGX 5 million, while registered homes caring for persons with disabilities may receive up to UGX 10 million.

Benefits: Successful applicants may receive startup capital for an approved livelihood or income-generating project. Eligible activities can include agriculture and agro-processing, poultry and livestock, trade, micro and small enterprises, tourism and cultural activities, crafts, engineering and repair services, mobile money and other viable livelihood activities. Funding may cover eligible project inputs and project-specific training. Approved funds are transferred to the beneficiary PWD group's bank account after the required approval and verification processes.

Abilis Foundation Grants for Organisations of Persons with Disabilities in Uganda

Abilis Foundation provides project funding to organisations of persons with disabilities in Uganda. Projects must be planned and implemented by and for persons with disabilities. Typical grants range from approximately €3,500 to €15,000, and applicants receive the application form and guidance through the Abilis Uganda Country Office.
